Drinking Vessels (Lipped Bowls/Sake Bottles/Sake Cups)
LUCKY 12 are produced by Mino ware potters with over 90 years in business. The junishi, or 12 signs of the Eastern zodiac, took roots in the lives of the Japanese long ago, and these ar en’t simply figurines, but can be used as con -tainers or cups as well. They are fun to look at and practical. Although they don’t look it, these containers are perfectly stable, so you don’t need to worry about them falling over. Mino ware is earthenware with a long history and tradition, stretching over 1,000 years back to the Heian period (794 to 1185 AD), and designated as a traditional craftwork by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Unlike the pottery of other regions, many Mino ware pieces for practical use have been made since the Edo period, making it the perfect creative medium for the playfulness of the Lucky 12.
